Immerse yourself in the poignant and vibrant universe of Cambodian-born painter Kimpov Eap, through his exceptional solo exhibition at Centre Afrika. This retrospective retraces a life journey marked by pain, survival and resilience, from the troubled lands of Cambodia to the welcoming land of Quebec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Born in Cambodia, Kimpov Eap experienced the horror of the Khmer Rouge. Torn from her childhood, she worked in the rice paddies, faced famine and lost loved ones in a tragedy that forever scarred her soul. Yet, in the midst of this darkness, the flame of hope survived. In 1982, she found refuge in Quebec, where she rebuilt her life and discovered the power of art as a means of healing and resilience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through her works, Kimpov Eap shares her emotional and spiritual journey. Her canvases, imbued with raw emotion and striking contrasts, tell the story of a life marked by pain, but illuminated by hope and rebirth. From the terror of rice paddies to the tranquility of Quebec landscapes, each brushstroke reflects a passage, a transition, a metamorphosis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition is an ode to inner strength, to the ability to rise above the most painful trials. It's also a tribute to those who didn't survive, and a token of gratitude to the host country that allowed him to be reborn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
